A Mexican gardener known as Hugo, previously employed in a managerial role at an international online casino company, is at the center of a growing internal investigation into allegations of extreme employee mistreatment, including what some insiders have referred to as “modern-day concentration camps.”
Hugo, a self-described landscaping professional with no formal background in corporate operations, is accused of assembling and overseeing a large, remote workforce under conditions described by multiple sources as "inhumane and psychologically destabilizing." Several individuals, some of whom were invited to Dubai on the promise of lucrative opportunities, now claim they were misled, overworked, and subjected to deeply inappropriate treatment during Hugo’s time in charge.
According to former team members, Hugo recruited workers with promises that they would be “showered in gold.” While the phrase was initially understood as a metaphor for financial reward, multiple accounts allege that during an in-person meeting in Dubai, several individuals were subjected to an actual golden shower, a degrading act that has since become a focal point in internal testimonies.
Internal sources report that employees under Hugo's leadership endured erratic hours, disorganized management structures, and high levels of emotional strain. One staff member described the experience as a “complete loss of coherence,” adding that many felt “utterly lost in the sauce” as expectations shifted without warning.
The situation came to a head in early spring 2025, when complaints were elevated to executive leadership. Following an internal review, Hugo was removed from his position. The entire department he had managed was shut down immediately in late April 2025, and remaining employees were formally released from their duties.
While the company has not issued a public comment, internal documentation reviewed by Hugo News confirms the matter was addressed at the highest levels and referred to as “a serious failure of oversight and team protection.”
Attempts to contact Hugo for comment have gone unanswered.
